Teeing Off a New Tradition

Welcoming the Saturday Swindle, starting Saturday, October 19th 2024.

As we bid farewell to a cherished tradition, we also embrace the beginning of an exciting new chapter at our golf club. The "Saturday Boys," a group well known for their playing and charity on Saturday mornings, have decided to hang up their clubs after many years of service and significant contributions to the club and various charitable causes.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Graham Flower, Ray Howes, and every member of the Saturday Boys for their dedication and generosity, particularly in their support of our front-door appeal.

However, the spirit of community and engagement they fostered will continue with the introduction of the "Saturday Swindle." Starting on Saturday 19th October, this new event will offer all club members the chance to participate in a roll-up game similar to other casual golf events but specifically held in the Saturday morning slot traditionally occupied by the Saturday Boys.

With tee times reserved in the prime Saturday morning slot, the Saturday Swindle is set to run through to Christmas. This period will serve as a litmus test for the event's popularity and its potential to continue the legacy of fundraising for the club's special projects. Just as the Saturday Boys did, we see this as a perfect opportunity for members to contribute while enjoying their time on the green.

We invite all members to join the Saturday Swindle, meet new friends, and help us gauge the success of this initiative. Here's to making new memories on the greens while honouring the legacy of those who have made our club what it is today. Register in the Clubhouse!
