Highlights from the Starbuck Classic
The Starbuck Classic, affectionately known as "Your Day, Tim," is not just another event; it's an important day dedicated to supporting our beloved golf club. This year, we were thrilled with the success of our fundraising efforts which will significantly aid in sustaining our club’s activities and facilities.
This success wouldn't be possible without the generosity of numerous individuals. Your contributions are invaluable, from sponsors who support individual holes, SSAF, Aldreds, Pertwee & Back, and Electrical Testing, 24/7 Plumbing, PES Renewables, Marina Bay, to name a few, to the wonderful gifts donated for prizes, and participants purchasing raffle tickets or simply paying their entry fee. On behalf of the club, I extend a heartfelt thank you to every one of you.
A special mention goes to those who devote their time and effort: Peter Munford, Dave Arend, and Dave Kightley. These gentlemen are the unsung heroes, not just on the day of the event but all year round. Their tireless dedication ensures the success of our events and significantly impacts our club.
We also owe a massive thank you to Mark Sumner, who always goes above and beyond what is required. And let's not forget the wives who, I am told, mixed a delightful fruit Pimm's that many enjoyed at the halfway house. Their contribution added a special flavour to the day!
The team at the golf club deserves applause for their excellent hospitality and for maintaining a fantastic golf course. The event was also livened up with some tunes from Graham and Jason of Harbour Radio, adding to the party atmosphere.
The competition itself was fierce with 34 teams participating. The format was a Texas scramble, requiring each player to contribute at least three drives. The winners of the day were Donald Lovie, Kieran Smith, and Will Garrod, who scored an impressive 48.25 and won a trip to Hunstanton. Close behind them were Banham, Elliot, Mutton, Nichols, securing second place with a score of 48.7, and Lardner, Blanchard, Peters, and Cotton, who took third place with a score of 49.45.
Thank you again to everyone who made the Starbuck Classic a success. Your participation and support make all the difference, ensuring our club continues to thrive and bring the community together.
Until the next one, Tim and Team!
