Champions Day Results 🏆

On Sunday 21st November we finally got the chance to celebrate the Great Yarmouth & Caister golf club champions of 2020 and 2021!

Despite biblical weather which made golf very difficult to play thanks to the severe north wind, and a slight (but hilarious!) malfunction trying to light the shotgun rocket in the gale-force wind requiring Sam Howard, to come to the rescue with the head chef's blow-torch!

The day literally went off with a bang 💥 albeit 5 minutes later than planned with a seriously impressive and enthusiastic 36 teams raring to go for a 9 am (thereabouts) shotgun start.

Most teams braved the conditions and stayed out on a bitterly cold course with some incredible scores being recorded with the eventual and deserving winners Johnny

Ioannou, Graham Fairchild, Tony Rowe and Rory Sheridan taking the top spot with a

total score of 54.7.

After a few hours outside everyone hurried back to a warm and welcoming clubhouse for much-needed food and drinks, enjoying a dazzling display of silverware and exciting prizes as they entered.

🏆 L-R Jamieson Gray, Vice-Caption Alistair Lowe

With everyone settled and feeling warmer, Tim and Alistair set about handing over the trophies for 2020 and 2021 to the worthy winners for both ladies and gents.

A special award donated by Terry Norman was presented to the most improved Junior, Jamieson Gray and outgoing Ladies Captain, Libby Sturrock presented GYC Juniors, Teaching Pro, Alex Holmes with a cheque for £900 raised by the ever-generous Ladies Section.

After so many months of lockdowns and restrictions, it was really wonderful to see the clubhouse brimming with activity and to hear endless banter and laughter.

Our sincerest congratulations to all of the worthy winners, and our thanks to everyone that helped to organise the day, attended the day and made it such a special occasion.

It was a brilliant team effort and once again proof that Great Yarmouth and Caister golf club is one that we are and whole-heartedly should be, very proud of.

Long may it continue!

Tim and Team ⛳️
